We are now ready to
proceed with the 2009 insurance program through the AFL
so that all clubs are insured and can download
Certificates of Currency.
Most states will have almost the same clubs as last
year, so most clubs will have registered on-line last
year and will be aware of the instructions below.
However, there are some slight changes from 2008.
The 2009 coverage started from 1st January 2009. Each
club will need to register on the insurance on-line
website and go through some risk management exercises so
that they can download their club’s 2009 Certificate of
Currency. Attached is a document on Risk
Management…whilst dated 2008 it is the same for 2009.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - This year a new, optional policy
named "JLT Sport Asset Protect" has been introduced to
the Programme, which offers clubs cover for risks that
haven't previously been insured through the National
Programme, such as Theft, Fire and General Property (a
type of transit insurance). A new step in the
registration process this year asks clubs whether they:
a) don't require this cover
b) require this cover at a basic minimum level - in
which case a premium is automatically calculated
c) require this cover at an increased level from the
basic minimum - in which case an application form will
be required to be completed for a quote to be provided
(as available online)
The basic minimum levels of cover are:
Fire and Other Perils $10,000 Accidental Damage $10,000
Business Interruption $10,000 General Property $1,000
Burglary $2,500 Money $2,500
It is highly recommended that clubs consider whether
they want to take out this policy or not before
beginning the registration process. If you are unsure on
how to answer this question and decide to come back
later, you may be required to complete the Risk
Management Module again to reach this question.
All clubs must complete this question before 31st March
2009. Any club that does not confirm by the 31st March
will be automatically billed for this cover.
Please note, Season 2009 of the National Programme has
been short-termed to an 11-month policy, ending 1st
November 2009. This short-terming is a one-off event,
and in future years the Programme will be full-termed,
ending each year on the 1st November. This new policy
period should help clubs to arrange their online
registrations, Certificates of Currency and any upgrade
they may want, before the football season gets under
way.
The Registration Process:
It may appear a little complicated at first but it is
straight forward to follow.
1. Click on the following website:
http://www.jltsport.com.au/AFL/club_selection.aspx
(new link) this page will take you to the first half of
the registration process, the club census details.
2. You will now have on screen the "Find Your Club" site
– Scroll down to “State” and click on the arrow – now
click on your state. Click on the arrow for “League” and
click on “AFL Masters - ”.
Put your mouse cursor on “Club” and type in your club
name and click on the “Search Key” You will see that the
same screen will reappear however, if you scroll down to
below the “Search” button you will see that your Club
Name now appears, along with a "Registration Status"
button: if your club has not previously registered, the
button next to your club name will appear as "Please
Register". Using your mouse cursor, click on this
button.
You will now be directed to the "What is Registration?"
page. Quickly read through the information on what it
means to register, and click "proceed".
3. Now type in the information requested for “Club
Details” and click on yes or no for club incorporation,
“Contact Person” read the conditions and click “yes” if
you understand them. Continue down to “Association
Details” and complete the number of senior teams for
your club, making sure to place 0 (zero) in junior teams
and 0 (zero) in reserve teams. Then press the “Proceed’”
button.
You will now be directed to the "Risk Management
Introduction" page. Quickly read through the information
on what the Risk Management Module means, and click
"proceed".
4. You should now read through each of the Risk
Management pages, moving through the different pages by
either clicking "next" on the bottom of each screen, or
selecting the headings listed on the left-hand side of
your screen. At any stage feel free to jump to the Risk
Management Questionnaire, by clicking on it's link on
the left-hand side.
5. Now complete the questionnaire. If you're unsure of a
question, you can return to the information pages by
clicking on their links on the left-hand side of the
screen - start by clicking on the heading that sounds
most relevant to the question.
It's important to remember though that your results
won't be recorded if you leave the questionnaire page -
it's probably a good idea to quickly write down your
answers so far with a pen and paper, before you search
the information pages for help on a question.
Once you are happy with the answers you have selected,
select the "Continue to Results" button at the bottom of
the page.
6. This next page provides you with your results. If
your score was 50% or above, you may want to read
through any incorrect answers you provided to see what
was the correct response. Then click on the "Continue"
button.
7. Please read through the information provided on JLT
Sport Asset Protect, and consider whether your club
would or would not like to take out this policy. Once
you have selected the best response for your club, click
"Proceed".
You will now be able to obtain your Certificate of
Currency, either by downloading immediately a standard
Certificate, or by sending a request for a Certificate
listing a council as an Interested Party.
NEXT STEP – this is an important step for match day
completion
Along the top of the screen are various choices: “Home,
What’s Covered, etc”.
Click on “Downloads” – you will see a menu has now
appeared on the left-hand side of the screen.
Click on "Forms" - in the list of options in the centre
of the page you'll now find the link to the "Match Day
Checklist and Guidelines".
Every game of MAF football is now subject to completion
of this checklist by the home club and these forms are
to be kept by the club for 7 years.
Now I’m sure everyone is groaning by this stage but
there are two things to consider.
1. This new process is probably going to save your club
and players more than 50% of 2007's insurance fees
…….thousands of dollars over the next few years.
2. The process that you go through will more than likely
save one of your players an injury.

Certificate of Currency is available here :
Certificate of
Currency.
More information
available from JLT Sport Website
www.jltsport.com.au/afl Once in there you would go
the Certificate of Currency section, place your state
name in the box ……for example…….State - "Tasmania",
Association - "AFL Masters Tasmania" and proceed to
print out a copy if needed.
All Clubs and players are reminded that the MAF National
Insurance coverage does not include personal insurance
cover. It has been pointed out that the AFL/JLT website
mentions such things as Medicare costs etc. However,
that applies to most other leagues covered under the
AFL's national insurance scheme. Their cover includes
limited personal insurance but they pay more in premium
per team than we were paying last year so MAF was able
to exclude personal injury (as has been the case in
previous years) and come up with our revised premium.
All clubs should ensure there are no doubts or
misunderstanding by confirming with their players that
personal injury cover is excluded and if there is anyone
who requires personal injury coverage then they should
seek their own policy separately.
All players and officials are STRONGLY ADVISED to make
provision for their own Accident, Life, Income
Protection and Health insurances to protect themselves
in the event of injury.
Consequently, every participant in Victorian Country
Masters Australian Football Inc will be required to
complete and sign a Members and Players Membership
Consent Form prior to undertaking any playing or
non-playing role with their respective clubs. The form
is available - CLICK
HERE
MATCH DAY
CHECKLIST
As part of our Insurance cover obligations, all clubs
need to complete a Match Day Checklist as a means of
meeting their obligations to the insurer, their players
and members.
Complete the Checklist each game day and keep the form
until the end of the season and then hand them over to
the state association secretary.
It is to be kept by the association for a period of 7
years in the event of a claim arising at a later date.
